Guy Fawkes - 1570-1606. Executed on 31st January 1606 for his part in the Gunpowder Plot conspiracy to blow up the Houses of Parliament and kill King James I. Guy Fawkes night - or "bonfire night" is held in the UK every year on November 5th to celebrate the defeat of the plotters.
